Do you like black and white? / Aimez-vous le noir et blanc?

 I love it. I am a fan of Henry Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Dorothea Lange and Vivian Maier. They are true storytellers of their times. When I try to do black and white, I cannot help but compare myself to these "great ones" and I am, perforce, always desapointed with my work. Maybe can YOU tell me what I do wrong... Here are two pictures that I found as I prepared my 2012/2013 photo album.

J'adore. Je suis une admiratrice d'Henry Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Dorothea Lange et Vivian Maier. Ce sont de véritables raconteurs de leur temps. Quand je m'essaie au noir et blanc, je ne peux pas m'empêcher de me comparer avec ces "grands" et, forcément, je suis toujours déçue. Peut-être pouvez-VOUS me dire ce qui ne va pas...

Snapseeded?
I created a new adjectiv: I am snapseeded. It's a little like "I am crazy". Actually, I am just obsessed with this app. As soon as I take a picture I am bound to try to make it better. And this Snapseed app is incredible! One of the results is the cat's picture below. You can see the original and the "snapseeded". Which one do YOU prefer?

Snapseedée?
J'ai créé un nouvel adjectif: je suis snapseedée. C'est un peu comme "je suis folle" . En fait, je suis juste obsédée par cette application. Dès que je prends une photo, je me sens obligée de l'améliorer. Et cette application Snapseed est incroyable! Un des résultats est la photo du chat ci-dessous. Vous pouvez voir l'originale et la "snapseedée". Laquelle préférez-VOUS?

And then you have pictures you do not need too much and it's already perfekt (for me... you may have a another opinion).
Et puis, il y a les images qui n'ont pas besoin de grand chose et elles sont parfaites (pour moi... vous pouvez avoir un autre avis).

Tasting it testing it / L'apprécier en le testant

That is something I never thought possible! I am an addict! I would not go out without it, I cannot stand to be separated from it, my only thoughts go towards it as soon as I have five minutes to kill, my fingers won't let it take a break. I long resisted before I got it, then came this thing with an "impossible to refuse" promotion. I know I should have waited to get the fair one... the next one will be a fair one, I promise, but everyone told me it was so gooooooooooood! I was under pressure (reminds me of a Queen song), social pressure to be exact (the same one we had to endure to have children;-)).
Anyway, I got it and I am tasting it by testing it. And some of the results  here I will post (Master Yoda is not too far).
The first ones retouched with Snapseed:

C'est une chose que je n'aurais jamais cru possible! Je suis accro! Je ne peux pas sortir sans ça, je ne supporte pas de m'en séparer, mes seules pensées volent vers ça dès que j'ai cinq minutes à tuer, mes doigts ne le laissent pas se reposer. J'ai résister très longtemps avant de l'avoir, mais un jour est arrivé cette promotion exceptionnelle "impossible à refuser". Je sais, j'aurais dû attendre le "fair"... le prochain sera un "fair", promis, mais tout le monde me disait que c'était tellement bieeeeeeeeeeeeennn! J'étais sous pression (ça me rappelle une chanson de Queen), pression sociale pour être exacte (la même pression qui nous a poussés à avoir des enfants ;-)).
Bref, je l'ai et je l'apprécie en le testant. Et certains resultats ici je posterai (Maître Yoda n'est pas loin).

I must confess that I never go out without a camera: the real big one (Canon EOS 400D) or the little one (Canon IXUs 750 or iPhone). I regret that I did not have the real big one last time I've gone out with the dog. It was a little before sunset and the sky transformed itself as I walked along the road. I was about to cross a field when I saw this big pond from the last rain which reflected this beautiful sky. I just had time to unsheathe the phone and get this snapshot.

Today is just a rainy and I won’t go out. Grey skys upon grey field…

Je dois admettre que je ne sors jamais sans mon appareil photo: le vraiment très gros (Canon EOS 400D) ou le petit (Canon IXUS 750 ou l'iPhone). Je regrette de ne pas avoir eu le vraiment gros la dernière fois que je suis sortie avec le chien. C'était un peu avant le coucher du soleil, le ciel se transformait alors que je marchais le long de la route. J'étais sur le point de traverser un champ quand je vis cette énorme mare laissée là par les dernières pluies et qui reflétait un ciel magnifique. J'eus juste le temps de dégainer le téléphone et de faire ce cliché.

Aujourd'hui est un jour pluvieux, je ne sortirai pas. Cieux gris sur champs gris...

A little later, I was walking back to the setting sun. I got a glimpse of rose color on a wall of a house. I turned around and was greeted by this sky. Could not resist. Got the phone a second time out of its sheath. 

 Un peu plus tard, je marchais dos au soleil couchant. J'ai vu une nuance de rose sur le mur d'une maison. Je me retournai et fus accueillie par ce ciel. Je  ne pus résister, je sortis le téléphone une seconde fois de sa pochette.

Then I tried something I  wanted to do for a long time. I tried the "Panorama" fonction on the phone. And I got that:

Puis j'ai tenté quelque chose que je voulais faire depuis longtemps. J'ai essayer la fonction "Panorama" du téléphone.Et j'ai eu ça:
